Food Blog (English Class)

If I were to invite you (Mr. Tsuyuki) over to my house to have dinner I would prepare a typical Mexican dish, the Tostada. Tostadas are one of my favorite foods that me or my mom makes. It's a simple dish, not hard to make but it tastes delicious if you make it the way you like it. The dish tostada consists of a tortilla that is crunchy, just as the Taco Bell crunchy taco tortilla but flat. We buy the tortillas in a ready packaged bag, but to make them hard (not too hard) and crunchy you need to fry or cook a normal tortilla. The tortilla is the base of the dish, what you add on top is the best part in making the food. What I would put are mashed (pinto) beans, crumbs of fresh white cheese, lettuce, and a little bit of Mexican hot sauce (Tapatio). In making the tostada there are infinite possibilities of things to add but the most simple and the one I enjoy the most is the one is just mentioned. You can also add many different toppings like tomatoes, onions, yellow cheese, and salsa to make it more savory. There are also other very common substitues for pinto beans that we also make, there is chicken, beef and shrimp tostadas, all which are very delicious as weel. What I like most about the Tostada dish is how many different tastes there are when you eat it; from the delicious beans, fresh cheese and spicy hot sauce, they all taste amazing once in your mouth. This food is special to us because it's a dish that has been passed down to us by my grandparents from Mexico, my parents remember eating it every week when they were small. I also have a lot of memories with my family eating tostadas, since I can remember, it's a food that is always with us.
